The tall handsome one is my dad, age about 22. US Coast Guard, probably right after joining the Coast Guard in Astoria, Oregon. This would have been before shipping out to the Philippines for the duration of the war. Unfortunately, the original was left in the direct sun for a long time and I tried to fix it up a little in the scanner. It's somewhat better. The protected part at the top shows how good it could have remained!

There is a sentence on the back in my grandmother's handwriting, but it is also faded so badly that I can only make out a few words ("plenty high prices."). Maddening!

AA297 Fave old photo.

Complicated but interesting (and emotional) work. I can not give you any recommendation. Good luck.

Yes, it is emotional to look at these photos again. I did discover it's just not a good scanner, but that's OK. : )

Gracias, Graciela.
