I don't drive anywhere in this sparsely populated landscape without a full tank! I've gotten so used to abandoned places around here that I don't see it as sad anymore - just as something interesting to photograph. Thanks, Dida, glad you like it!

Yeah, you don't go past a gas station in this part of the world without topping off!

Lots and lots of these rural gas stations have closed over the last few decades, casualties of the more stringent environmental regs. These low-volume operations just can't afford to retrofit. In most cases the problem was leaking storage tanks--which, to be sure, is a serious environmental issue.
