➽ Der Haidplatz ist ein zentraler Platz in der Regensburger Altstadt. Der Platz geht auf eine langgestreckte Wiese („Heide“) westlich des ehemaligen Römerlagers zurück. Die Form des später bebauten dreieckigen Platzes beruht auf einer Gabelung einer Straße. Im Mittelalter wurden hier Ritterturniere abgehalten. Auf dem Platz befindet sich das klassizistische Thon-Dittmer-Palais, das zuletzt im Besitz der Kaufmannsfamilie von Thon-Dittmer war. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde es vom fürsterzbischöflich-dalbergischen Hofbaumeister Emanuel Herigoyen umgestaltet. Heute sind hier Kulturreferat, Volkshochschule, Stadtbücherei, Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut und das Theater am Haidplatz untergebracht. Weiteres beherrschendes Gebäude ist die Neue Waag. Das ehemalige Patrizierhaus der Familie Altmann wurde 1441 von der Stadt erworben und beherbergte seitdem die Stadtwaage und die Herrentrinkstube. Heute ist es der Sitz des Verwaltungsgerichtes. In der Mitte des Platzes steht der barocke Justitiabrunnen (laut Inschrift von 1656). Die Figur der Justitia vom Bildhauer Leopold Hilmer ist von 1659, das Eisengitter datiert aus dem Jahr 1592. ____________________ ➽ The Haidplatz is a central place in the Old Town of Regensburg. The place is based on an elongated meadow west of the old Roman camp. The shape of the triangular space based on a fork of a road. In the Middle Ages jousting tournaments were held here. On the square is located the neoclassical Thon-Dittmer Palace, which was most recently owned by the merchant family "von Thon-Dittmer". In the 19th century it was converted from the prince bishop's court architect Emanuel Hirigoyen. Today the Cultural Department, Community College, City Library, German-American Institute and the Haidplatz Theater are housed there. Another dominant building is the Neue Waag (New Libra). The former patrician residence of the Altmann family was acquired in 1441 by the city and has hosted since then the city libra and the Gentlemen's Tavern. Today it's the seat of the Administrative Court. In the middle of the square is located the baroque Fountain of Justitia (according to the inscription of 1656). The figure of Justitia by sculptor Leopold Hilmer is from 1659, the iron grating dates from 1592.

The house was initially owned by the family Weltenburger, later in the 15th century followed the Zeller family. The turreted house with tower and chapel was since the 16th century an inn and served numerous princes and emperors as a hostel. Most famous guest was Emperor Charles V., in 1532, 1541 and 1546 he descended here. In the middle of the square is located the baroque Fountain of Justitia (according to the inscription of 1656). ➽ Normalerweise sind die bunten Vorhängeschlösser (PiP) , mit denen sich Paare Liebe und Treue schwören, der Hingucker, aber nun wird der Eiserne Steg ein Garten! Aktivisten der Initiative Transition Town Regensburg hängen über 200 Blumentöpfe an das Brückengeländer. Blumen, aber auch viele Kräuter und Nutzpflanzen wie Basilikum, Tomaten und Kartoffeln werden – eingepflanzt in alte Tetrapaks oder leere Bierfässchen – am Brückengeländer befestigt. Zum Teil hatten die Aktivisten die Pflanzen selbst gezogen, andere wurden von verschiedenen Gärtnereien und Baumärkten gespendet. Activists of the Transition Town initiative Regensburg hang over 200 flower pots on the parapet. Flowers, but also many herbs and crops such as basil, tomatoes and potatoes - planted in empty beer kegs or old Tetra Packs - are attached to the bridge railing. ➽ In der Gedenkstätte Walhalla in Donaustauf im bayerischen Landkreis Regensburg werden – ursprünglich auf Veranlassung des bayerischen Königs Ludwig I. – seit 1842 bedeutende Persönlichkeiten „teutscher Zunge“ mit Marmorbüsten und Gedenktafeln geehrt. Benannt ist sie nach Walhall, der Halle der Gefallenen in der nordischen Mythologie. Der Architekt war Leo von Klenze. ➽ Die Steinerne Brücke ist neben dem Dom das bedeutendste Wahrzeichen der Stadt Regensburg . Mit dem Baubeginn 1135 ist sie die älteste erhaltene Brücke Deutschlands und gilt als ein Meisterwerk mittelalterlicher Baukunst. Seit 2010 wird die Brücke saniert. Die Sanierung sollte ursprünglich Ende 2014 abgeschlossen sein; inzwischen geht die Stadt von einer Fertigstellung im Jahr 2018 aus. Sie wurde am 10. Juni 2018 im Rahmen des UNESCO Welterbetags eröffnet. Hier eine Aufnahme aus 2012, die Sanierungsarbeiten waren im hinteren, hier nicht sichtbaren Teil, im Gange. With the start of construction in 1135, it is the oldest surviving bridge in Germany and is considered a masterpiece of medieval architecture. Since 2010, the bridge is being redeveloped. The redevelopment was originally scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014. Meanwhile, the city expects completion in 2018. It was opened on June 10, 2018 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Day. Here a shot from 2012, the renovation work was in progress in the back part, not visible here. ➽ Das Goliathhaus in der Altstadt von Regensburg ist eine zinnengekrönte ehemalige Patrizierburg. Das frühgotische Gebäude mit gotischen Fensterarkaden war seit 1290 Stammsitz der Patrizierfamilie Thundorfer. Das monumentale Wandgemälde, entstanden 1573 durch Melchior Bocksberger, stellt die Szene „David gegen Goliath“ dar. Goliath symbolisiert darin den hochmütigen Kaufmann, der gegen den redlichen Kaufmann (= David) verliert. ➽ PiP ___________________________ ➽ The Goliathhaus ( Goliath house) in the old town of Regensburg is a crenellated former patrician castle. The early Gothic building with gothic window arcades was since 1290 the ancestral seat of the patrician family Thundorfer. The monumental mural, created in 1573 by Melchior Bocksberger, depicts the scene "David against Goliath".
