Die Stadt Augsburg besaß seit der Römerzeit eine Befestigung. Im Mittelalter entstanden neue Mauern mit Tuermen und Graeben. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts begann die Entfestung der Stadt und damit der Abbruch vieler Bauwerke der Befestigung. Bis in die Gegenwart hinein sind fünf Stadttore, vier Bastionen und lange Abschnitte der Stadtmauer erhalten geblieben. Quelle: Wikipedia
In der Bastion am Jakoberwall ist heute das Vereinsheim der Historischen Bürgergilde e.V. untergebracht. (PiP)

The city of Augsburg had a fortification since Roman times. In the Middle Ages, new walls with towers and moats were built. The de-fortification of the city began in the mid-19th century, and with it the demolition of many fortifications. An excellent HFF capture Dida. Love the aged feel to this and use of selective colour in the main image and the PiP is great!! Love all the rich colours - in contrast to the main image which adds even more interest. Beautiful costumes and interesting notes also. HFF and have a good weekend
