Red, red clouds!

Clouds and skies

Red, red clouds!

27 Jan 2018 7 4 272
As unbelievable as it may sound -this shot is entirely natural. A grey day here in Altea today and as the sun goes down there is suddenly a blast of directional sun from the right, lighting up these clouds. As I later, ran around the block to catch the red sunset in its entirety, all I got was some moments of red glory marred by buildings. Ah well -enjoy! ps notice the moon on here too.

Stormy skies over Pont de Normandie

15 Apr 2018 14 18 466
Walking along the famous River Seine in the early evening can result in witnessing some impressive lighting. These clouds were to bring some heavy rain during the night but thankfully all was well again for the next day. The sun-beams here were almost like watching the Aurora Borealis , coming and going.

The skies above Kendal Castle

02 Jul 2018 24 35 415
This castle just above Kendal in our Lake District is interesting enough, but with an evening sunset sky like this, well it is what we photographers long for. Enjoy full screen.

An Isle of Arran landscape

17 May 2017 9 7 414
Taken from just north of Blackwaterfoot looking North to Tormore here on Arran. To the left is the mainland towards Claonaig. Of course the sky is also paramount here. Enjoy.

Bodmin Moor and The Cheesewring

05 Jul 2017 5 7 423
Here on Bodmin Moor near the village of Minions are a trio of interesting sights: The Hurlers Stone Circle, the Phoenix Cornish Mines and these very interesting rocks. This set being called the Cheesewring made of granite.

Big skies towards Snowdonia

Taken from Pwlleli beach, North wales.

Glassillaun Bay

13 Sep 2018 30 30 438
Another from the Connemara's Wild Atlantic coast. Not too wild as you can see, instead a most beautiful deserted beach of golden sand. A scene to rest one's eyes upon and dream! - Enjoy full screen ps the lone footprints are mine!

Sunset over Altea

21 Jan 2018 5 6 357
As the sun sinks behind the Costa Blanca resort of Altea we see the Sierra Helada Natural Park and skyscrapers of Benidorm silhouetted. The Winter moon is already high and the sun highlights the passing aeroplane con trail. For me: perfection.

Beach life!

16 Sep 2018 29 31 417
Another look at the bays and beaches of County Kerry. This near Brackaharagh and just south of Waterville on the Ring of Kerry route. Enjoy

Thunderhead over SeaCaves

28 Jan 2019 37 37 540
For me a rare sight as this Cumulonimbus heads towards us over the Mediterranean here in West Cyprus heralding a great storm. "Cumulonimbus is a dense, towering vertical cloud, forming from water vapor carried by powerful upward air currents. If observed during a storm, these clouds may be referred to as thunderheads. Cumulonimbus can form alone, in clusters, or along cold front squall lines." Wikipedia

Storm brewing at Peyia

31 Jan 2019 36 43 429
This area of rocky coastline just north of Paphos in Cyrus is a delight to explore but it can be very dangerous to man and shipping alike. This storm came from nowhere and was gone just as quickly. Not the ideal conditions for swimming or a small boat. The monochrome here helps convey the feelings I saw here too. Enjoy full screen. New Mar24/2019 PiP

A vision of Stromness

09 Jun 2014 24 36 276
Stromness on the Orkney Islands is the setting for this colourful view. Taken fom the Orkney -Scrabster ferry: Hamnavoe. Having just been reminded of my visit to this wonderful Island, I thought you might like an re-airing of this rather artful interpretation of the famous little harbour town here. Originally on Panoramio. Enjoy full screen on black. A fitting tribute in sound: Fairwell to Stromness music best listened to whilst viewing this full screen.

Golden delight at Sea caves

09 Feb 2019 42 59 512
Another from this area of rocky coastline just north of Paphos in Cyprus. This taken just as the sun was starting to set. We were so lucky that we were staying within sight of this area and so I could rush down whenever I saw the light getting like this. Hope you too think it was worth the effort? A full screen must!

Just another Rossbeigh sunset!

18 Sep 2018 36 31 617
Almost concluding my 2018 Ireland trip, I will end where I started on our second week, with another view over the bay situated in front of our holiday cottage. Each night the views here were tremendous with dancing clouds and light -how could I not just love the place. PiP Enjoy big.

Dunottar Castle

05 May 2019 33 52 639
A rather dramatic view of this splendid castle upon almost an Island just south of Aberdeen, Scotland. It was possible to visit inside too but I had to resist that temptation. Dunnottar Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located upon a rocky headland on the northeastern coast of Scotland, about 2 miles south of Stonehaven. The surviving buildings are largely of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been fortified in the Early Middle Ages. More Info As always best viewed full screen.

Braemar from the East

12 May 2019 21 22 360
The village of Braemar is famed for its walking, highland gathering and idyllic views. Here we are just off a trail called 'Queens Drive' with the church spire of Braemar just beyond the trees here. Notice snow on the far away Bens of the Cairngorms National Park. Enjoy large.

The infinite Indian Ocean

29 Mar 2014 19 18 279
Part of my 2014 collection. Taken from on-board the P&O Aurora crossing from Asia to Africa. I waited for some time hoping that the light would still be on the sea horizon for this boat to enter it. The late day sky with this dark sea combined in the end to make this. Enjoy large

Saddleworth mist

30 Nov 2019 22 16 233
Another look over my local reservoir here at Dovestones in Greenfield, as the sun tries to come up and warm the cold ground here. Ahead we are looking into Chew Valley, a steep long ravine almost, climbing up to the high moorland Greenfield reservoir. To the right is the old yacht club that is still used but very quiet compared to its heyday some 20 years back. -of course the light is once again principle here. Enjoy full screen
