A walk along Worms Head

A walk along Worms Head
Another from my 2005 collection. I had great pleasure to hike to this sea serpent's head. The headland is approached via a tidal causeway.

"Worm's Head is a headland, at Rhossili, part of the City and County of Swansea, Wales. It is the furthest westerly point of the Gower Peninsula. The name Worm's Head is derived from an Old English word 'wyrm' for 'sea serpent." WiKi.
See PiP for alternative view and mapping.

Enjoy the day

We have walked along this part of the Gower, but I was unable to cross the rocky area before the headland, just in case I fell and broke something! It was a wonderful quiet day, so no great seas crashing over rocks. The wild flowers were gorgeous.

As I remember, it was very exciting. My wife Eileen also walked most of the head. Glad you liked it.

Easy to see how this magnificent piece of the coast got it's name (especially now you've given us an explanation of the Old English word).

It definitely has a serpent-like look to it. You've captured it in lovely light and fantastic detail Herb (particularly when viewed large). The person standing at the top of the "serpent) is great for scale.

Nice to see the image in the PiP again. Great work my friend..!!

My pleasure to furnish another closer look of this serpent . I have a feeling that that is in fact my wife Eileen up there on the top. A great and exciting walk with a treat of seal sightings for me at the end.

Best Wishes. Herb

That looks like a great walk. Thanks for the images, and the reminder that the Gower isn't too far from me here - I need to get back there!
