A windy day on Perran Bay

A windy day on Perran Bay
We are on the bay looking towards the sand dunes and village of Perranporth in Cornwall on this windy day. One is usually advised to keep your DSLR camera and len’s well covered up in such conditions as this but I have never been too good with rules. The red dog-poo bin draws our attention of course.

Enjoy full screen.

Boro, Frans Schols, Holger Hagen, John FitzGerald and 23 other people have particularly liked this photo

I thought it was snow at first Herb! It was like that on the beach at Bude, but I was worried about my camera, so put it away ;-)) Fab picture....I wish I had kept my camera handy now!!

Ah yes, one has to be careful with theses camera's. I am normally wearing a big zipped fleece jacket and so i tuck the camera inside whilst the strap is still around my neck and then pull it out to compose and shot before tucking it back. I must admit to liking this capture too.

Cheers, Herb

Yes, it must be difficult keeping the windows clean here.

Well captured. I thought it was snow too! I can just feel that blowing sand stinging my bare legs!

Yes, we could feel it on our faces here but it was not too bad nearer the sea.

Cheers for the call. Herb

A great place to walk, especially when that big expansive beach is uncovered. I have a few shots from here so might well post more. Glad this brought memories back Andy.

On a windy day and a huge dune(?) nearby...it looks like a desert sandstorm
Superb capture and image, Herb!

Yes, a few large dunes here which I would have liked to take more photos off but there was just too much blowing sand for all that. Glad you liked it.

Wow! This is an amazing shot Herb..........if it wasn't for the red poo bin and the houses you could almost imagine being in a desert in the middle of a sand-storm!

In fact the houses and the bin make the whole scene feel a bit surreal.......but I love it..!!

Hi again Keith and once again I am delighted that this has reached the spot. This has been taken through my longest lens at 300mm crop (450mm full frame equivalent) and so it shows the houses a little closer than they were in reality but gives a real feeling. The red bin made for a focal point here. Cheers for the call. Herb

I like using long lenses for landscape work.........sometimes you can get some great effects as your shot shows.

Good that you popped by to accompany me in the sand. I felt like singing 'My Desert is waiting..." (From The Desert Song - musical). Anyway......... Glad you enjoyed it (without the singing).

A great capture Herb a pity you missed the camels !!!!!! A weather sealed lens and camera and a UV filter should be good

I've been in a situation like that Herb and like you, tucked the camera in my jacket and took it out when I was ready. It didn't seem to bother the camera but my face was stinging!

This is another of your great captures Herb, just a shame that Wilson and Keppel weren't around to do the sand dance!!

A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Well thought out and taken, as always
Shame about modern houses and TV aerials, but what else can you do!
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
