Townley Hall, Burnley
Townley Hall, once the seat of the Townley family, was built around 1100. They once owned extensive property in Lancashire and Yorkshire and can trace their ancestry back to the Norman times. Sitting in a 440 acre (180 hectares) park that is now owned by the Burnley Borough Council, it is open to all. We took a guided tour of the house (for a small fee) but its gardens and grounds are also a pleasure to stroll through, all for free. Enjoy this Autumn look and internal views via the PiPs.

Such an imposing and beautiful house. You've captured the detail in the stonework perfectly and I love the red and green ivy plants - the red in particular is stunning. A nice bit of autumn colour in the tree too.

Great PiPs too. All nicely exposed in what looks like natural light. I especially like the first and second PiPs which are really lovely.

Glad you enjoyed this Keith. It was a bit of a miserable day but it brightened up a bit for this. The Autumn colours make a difference as well as the ivy, as you say. Glad too that you liked my internals here :) Yes, no flash allowed but photos OK. They were not keen on us taking proper photos of the paintings though.

Thanks Dany - a wonderful park that I have not been to for many years, and all for free. The grass was quite sodden after so much rain over the last month but like many of these parks, kept in lovely condition a you can see.

Good that you enjoyed these Rosa. I know that you do enjoy such houses yourself. Yes, we all have our favourite rooms within these places. I was pleasantly surprised of how much furniture and fittings where in here. the kitchen had a lot more interest other than what we can see here. Good that you enjoyed the outer building too.
