This is almost the very same shot as I took 7 months ago when the fire first went through. the winter grass is doing ok no competition. The scrub at the back no new growth at all . Only the Grass trees and some of the bigger trees show any growth at all.

Very sad to see this, Steve. Yes, the grasses and grass trees will rebound, but so much is yet to come back. Let's hope it does, for a HFF!

I have kept away from this area so as not to be able to be anything but surprised at what I see. I am a little shocked in 7 months all the rains we have had so little . loose the winter grass not a hell of a lot of growth out there . its true the over powering smell of smoke has gone but it so much of a barren landscape. I am sure there is very little life out in those threes at all. no birds no calls no movement.

I have to say I do hope we do not get bad firs this year, Australia seems to being burnt out bit by bit state by state. I truly had hope it would look better , HFF from the west you keep safe.

Have you heard of the terrible fires in California? It must be just as terrible there in the forests of the national parks and into the cities

Steve Paxton club has replied to Erika+Manfred club
I have been watching them and think how is it fire just swaps side of the world. Just what is it we are doing so wrong to let this happen year after year, country after country.

Even now I see the smoke of the preburn fires even this far out from summer So just what is summer going to bring.

Yes it comes back but not a break neck speed , only in its own time.

Even nature will take time to recover from such devistating fires Steve, but nature is working at it,
HFF and a good weekend.

you are so right Nature always recovers but at this point it is the speed what we are use to is not there , nature is still recovering. HFF from the West

A long slow recovery process Steve although at least the grass is growing well and some of the trees are showing some colour at last. It must be hard to go back there though when the devestation from the fires is still quite evident and it must be heartbreaking not to see or hear any sign of birds in the area. Let's hope for a better year all round.

HFF and have a good weekend

I have to be honest I was a little shocked I though there would be far more growth but not so. I got the same shock as you this is the first time in 7 months I have seen it at all. its coming back but not quite the speed we would like The result to animal, insect and bird life is nothing short of devastating. HFF like you I hope yours is a good one I know I am so busy I dont know where I am.

Being in the midst of our worst-yet wildfires in California, I too wish this would look more regenerated, but as others have said, it takes time, yet nature will bounce back.

I sadly feel for you each and ever new clip we get I cringe At each and every flame goes up. It the end of some ones life people animals birds or insects. The cost is far too high for all of us to see it keep on happening year after year. Yes we see nature come back but like all thing there is no fast recovery.

I worry of what is coming " just what have we learnt" I fear for what the natural world is going through each summer and fear the price is to high to pay. HFF I truly hope you have a great weekend.

A great comparison shot Steve. It looks like tings are progressing but the real bush will take longer. Hopefully they will recover too.

HFF, enjoy your weekend in safety. Herb
Steve Paxton club has replied to Herb Riddle club
Herb The two shots are the very same but for 7 months it all stands as the same even the small amount of fence wire. The net result is we all see its no easy fix and there is far more out there than we realize with all the insects ,birds and animals.

HFF hope you have a great weekend none the less.

Grasses are always the first to come back and Nature would rebound, in its own time, if left in peace, but I am so afraid that we have done so much damage to our climate, that it might get worse before it gets better. Do we really need to wait until we are taught such terrible lessons before we take action? I wish I knew how to get our governments the world over to listen to reason and start acting like climate change is real and is here.

Did the fire go very deep or will dormant seeds have survived, if it burnt the bark of the trees the only hope will be suckers off the roots if they survived. HFF Steve I hope you have a good weekend
3 years ago.
Steve Paxton club has replied to Peter Castell club
Peter the fires burn hot but not for very long but enough to kill the smaller spindly trees and shrubs you see in the Background in both shots. The grass seeds came from out of the sand from last year its only thicker trunks that survive under these conditions. HFF i hope yours is better than mine.
