That's great, Steve. I remember when I was younger I have read thousand of romance books, many of them where from Australia and they always spoke from these kookaburras. I knew only that they were birds and had a strange call like a laughing. There was no internet at the time and no wiki and even if I always have read a lot I did not have an encyclopedia. Later when I saw the photos I was astonished that they were not different from other birds :-)

there call is certainly very different in the bush to any of the other birds it partner flew off . a real bird alright..

the only bars is branches i have to try and get rid of . there is no mistaking the sound of them in the early mornings they stand out as so different, the laugh. seen a lot but not so many when i have long lens. enjoy.
