Flying squirrel

Flying squirrel
This species is strictly nocturnal. They don't exactly fly; the climb up a tree and glide down to another tree. They spread their legs which stretches skin between their legs.

I wish I could see one of these. A difficult accomplishment, since they are very scarce in the west and only along the coast. Then, I'd need to stay awake for several nights. ;-o

I've never seen one with my own eyes, except a naturalist had a few at an exhibit a few years ago.
