Thanks, Pam. I don't know exactly where these are nesting. There are many dead pine trees here (bark beetles), so there is lots of opportunity.

A wonderful catch. I've tried so many times to shoot a woodpecker, but it always seems to disappear as soon as I have my camera. This is great.

I know what you mean. They tend to hide on the other side of the tree or just fly away. When I first saw this one, it was on a big dead tree in the sunshine, but it flew back into the forest to this tree.
