Schnorcheln am Great Barrier Reef

Wir fahren mit einem großen Katamaran quer durch die Whitsunday Inseln hinaus zum Great Barrier Reef. Dort gibt es eine schwimmende Plattform, von der aus man schwimmen, schnorcheln oder tauchen kann und das direkt am oder über dem Riff. Das Wasser ist herrlich. Es wurde auch erklärt, dass man nicht zu nahe schwimmen und unter Wasser einen Abstand einhalten soll.

Ja, selbstverständlich. Das Waser war herrlich, man sieht ganz rechts die Plattform, von der aus man ins Wasser konnte. Es gab auch Duschen, alles ist perfekt organisiert. Man konnte dort auch übernachten, mit "Candel-Light-Dinner". Wir sind morgens mit dem Boot hingebracht worden, so 2 - 3 Stunden Fahrt, mittags gabs ein kleines Buffet und am Nachmittag ging es wieder zurück.

Das schon, aber mit dem Wissensstand von heute (was das Great Barrier Reef betrifft) würde ich das vielleicht nicht mehr tun. Es ist ganz toll, die Fische zu beobachten aber diese Boote und die Menschen stören die Natur. Neuere Beobachtungen scheinen etwas beruhigender zu sein, aber so ganz genau weiß man das noch nicht.
