After the traumas of the last month or so I heard two pieces of very good news today.
My grandson Carl has been working in the kitchens of a hotel here on the island. He has just come back from a course they sent him on with more qualifications. The outcome is a pay rise and a step up the ladder. He no longer wears the normal kitchen whites but a natty black outfit the same as the head chef. It shows that his hard work and willingness to work for the last 12 months has paid dividends.
My grand daughter Gemma has also landed a job she was seeking in the shipbuilding and engineering works. She applied a couple of months ago but in the interview they told her they were not taking trainees at that time but hoped to soon and would contact her and they have.
She starts £16,000 p.a. and they have high hopes for her.
I might celebrate with two brandy's tonight instead of my normal one.
The grand kids did well.
