Former big band singer Ruth Brown (Weston) and her Rhythmakers recorded "Somebody Touched Me" (Nugetre) for Atlantic Records in 1954 but it did not chart.
In 1958 Buddy Knox and the Rhythm Orchids (Buddy Knox, Jimmy Bowen, Dave Alldred and Don Lanier) peaked at number twenty-two with "Somebody Touched Me" (Ahmet Ertegun). Note the composer was Atlantic Records executive Ahmet Ertegun, it was spelled backwards on the Ruth Brown single.
