The rumour is that Shakespeare might have visited the town of Prescot, near Liverpool, as a member of The Lord Strange Theatre Company, while London was locked down due to periodic outbreaks of the plague. The rumour is largely based on supposition and wishful thinking as there is little verifiable evidence. Nevertheless, a brand new Shakespearean theatre is under construction to entice audiences in the north of England.
