Goodbye, Gorgeous Girl!

Goodbye, Gorgeous Girl!
I took a few final photos of this beauty in the moments before he adoptive roommates arrived. Polydactyl Penelope left today, the last of the Roadside Girls to find her forever home. I wish Penelope the very, very best. Goodbye, precious girl!

Yay, Penelope! I'm so happy for her! This is a beautiful shot of her, Jean!

(Do they keep their collars when they get adopted?)

Thanks, Fran! I offer to let people keep the collar. The vast majority do. In this case, the young ladies had already gone on a shopping spree for Penelope and opted to leave the collar for another rescued feline.

Ah, great! I have had bad luck with collars on the few occasions that I have tried them. The cats seem to somehow get a paw stuck under the collar and then there is panic and I have to quickly cut it off to prevent strangling so I just don't even try anymore.

Thankfully, only Gumbo has a collar that could strangle him. And his is set so that it fits over his head if he actually got it caught and tried to get out. Everyone else in the house has a break-away collar. That's how Godiva gets out of them, I suspect. She gets a paw up and in there and yanks. Little stinker, hee hee.

I wish her well with her new family - and how sweet that they already shopped for her. I would say that's promising and must be encouraging for you.

I'm always nervous when a cat first leaves, simply hoping that it'll be a smooth transition. It is great, though, that they had already purchased things for Penelope AND that they doted on Penelope adoring every aspect of her appearance and personality.
