Well, what's art?

What is art? Or is that the wrong question? Art is something that is produced by an artist, poetry is something that is produced by a poet, music is something that is produced by a composer. An artist sees things and shares them, a poet thinks of words and shares them, a composer thinks of sounds and shares them. But what is recognised as art? Perhaps this depends on conventions; I think Igor Stravinsky said something like "Conventions are the vehicles on which tradition is carried forward." I think there was a Welsh poet, surname Thomas, who said, 'Write what pleases you, and if others start to like it, well, there you are!"
