huge wall painting of george and the dragon on the east chapel wall, with a kneeling donor in a tabard almost gone from the south wall. c.1440. the overall red colour is a result of an earlier failed wax treatment.

above the north arcade are large wall paintings, here can be seen barrels on hurdles, with a long written scroll curving over two figures , one of which is a red hairy devil, standing in a wide open hell mouth with big square teeth and yellow skin. the use of lettering implies a late mediaeval date, the barrel may be part of a range of activities of sabbath breakers or the sinful, or the figure with the demon may be the dishonest alewife; all would point to a late c15 or early c16 date.
