in the early c21 the west end of the north aisle was divided off with glass screens, and an upper room built above a wooden spiral stair. the workmanship and design are unusually good. the western arch of the arcade has piers and capitals of a simple C11 design, though it was rebuilt in 1868 with a pointed arch

the chancel arch, though much restored, still proclaims its c11 nature, right on the cusp of the saxon/norman overlap. the east window is victorian, the apse c11. two squints bracket the arch .

one basically original window remains in the late c11 apse. it has splays both inside and out, showing it to be probably built by saxon workmen for a norman lord.

south transept triforium, 1177-1088. the banded columns show superficial similarity to saxon baluster shafts, and have been claimed as being spoil from an earlier church. however, they look to be made from the same caen stone as the obviously norman capitals, and appear lathe cut , lacking the bulges of saxon work
