view from the retrochoir into the choir, the column of c.1190 holding the retrochoir vault having been originally bonded into a wall across the arch to the west. the choir dates from roughly 1115 on, the eastern arch thus blocked having given onto an apse. cottingham rebuilt and recarved everything here, making hereford less enjoyable in the process.
