eccles church, quidenham, norfolk

eccles church, quidenham, norfolk
the early c14 south aisle was demolished c.1740, and the south doorway reused in the blocked arcade. on the wall stub left as a buttress at each end of the aisle is a tall length of moulding, much too high to be part of a window, too close to the arcade to be the start of a new tower and chancel arch. they both look well built, not a bodged tidy up, so what were they for ?
