albion brewery, whitechapel, london
begun by the landlord of the infamous blind beggar pub next door in 1808, and gradually changed along with growth and merger throughout the c19. it ended life under watney mann in 1979, the entrance tower having been used by the scots guards in the 1911 siege of sydney street as a position from which to fire.

george and the dragon appear on both the main building and the mann, cross and paulin ltd. overthrow, along with the motto decus et tutamen - an ornament and a safeguard.
