king's lynn, red mount chapel

detail of the internal stairs of the pilgrim chapel of 1485, two sets of which spiral up between the inner core and outer skin. on the left can be seen one of the corners of the stone upper chapel constructed by wastell in 1506 with little concern for the structural niceties; some of the walls rest on frail lintels over stairways in a most disconcerting fashion.
