jellinge stone, london copy

jellinge stone, london copy
round the back of what was built as the removed st.katherine's hospital, and is now the danish church in regent's park is this copy of the danish stone known for its mixture of pagan and christian imagery. the ribbon like flatness of the intertwined dragons is similar to that seen at colerne and ramsbury in wiltshire though they are deemed earlier in date. cnut may have been the donor in c.980 . this copy of the c10 jellinge stone , with colours deemed correct, was a post war gift from the danish people to england
