the church was rebuilt after the great fire to wren's designs in 1670-2.however, little is left that wren would recognise, as scott gutted the building and redid all the windows in a venetian/lombardic style in 1857-60. the current colur scheme is from the 1960s, replacing a much heavier c19 scheme
