Laid by Lady Overtoun
The inscription almost completely encircles the stone, but reads: "LAST STONE OF BRIDGE LAID BY LADY OVERTOUN AND AVENUE OPENED 5TH JUNE 1895". However, it appears that the symbolic laying of this final stone took place two days later than planned, on the 7th of June. Quoted from the Geograph website.

Overtoun Bridge, at Dumbarton, Scotland is the haunt of the world's greatest dog leaping mystery. With over 100 dogs leaping from the walls and parapets of this ancient bridge what might lie behind this terrifying canine phenomenon? Quoted from the Paul Owens website.
