A waving Belgian flag : we are welCome

this hidden gem appeared out of nowhere in the centre of Brussels, I was actually looking my way, it was a surprise for me to see it back in this alley in all its glory, framed by the houses: the morning sun on Brussels' St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral, national church of Belgium in Brabant Gothic, the Belgian flag flying in the wind when the King is in the country Kanselarijstraat Brussels Rue des Chancellors

Headin' to the strand

Getting a breath of fresh air by the sea and walking along the seal beach, a nice place to watch the sun set. You are surrounded by water on the 700 meter long breakwater, constructed to protect the Coast against storms at the back the New Pier of Ostend which takes you into the water, the small beach is on the right where seals arrive, you walk past the lighthouse 'Lange Nelle' which is how the Ostend lighthouse is popularly called ~ has been a household name in Ostend since 1949. Consequently, the three light beams that are supposed to represent the letter O of Ostend in Morse code have been shining through the bedrooms and living rooms of several people living in Ostend for decades. Today, the lighthouse still serves as a beacon for shipping, but its light not only shines over the sea, but also inland, 360 degrees around "The light of the 'Lange Nelle' has been a beacon on our Flemish coast since 1949. You can't take that light away from Easterners." August the 7th Natonal Lighthouse Day Seawall near the Zeeheldenplein Ostend

The Northern Lights in my Hometown

Not the familiar green aurora or Northern Lights in Northern Europe... but rather a rose reddish glow in the Flemish sky in the Benelux. We owe this rare beautiful red natural phenomenon to a solar storm combined with clear weather. Here in Belgium, we see it occasionally in clear skies and there is a chance we will see it more and more often. I like the fact that I was able to capture it in photo anyway. Soon, anyone can come and see this red natural phenomenon when it is more prevalent~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Thursday November 2nd 2023, bomb cyclone Ciarán raced through Flanders with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour and wreaked havoc on these tree silhouettes, the middle tree was demolished by Storm Ciarán, the silver birch with a birdhouse is cleaved to the middle and for now it lies over the greenhouse. It will be an occupation to remove the whole tree, they are 2 cosy ones who were amused by the Sky October breaks global heat record: 2023 is almost certainly warmest year since measurements began
