It's a bold, icon-like image, and I like it, although I am not sure what to make of it. :)

Thanks, and I'm glad you got a kick out of it, Nicolas!

Sort of an early version of Cujo. Again you captured the cover art beautifully.

Well, if Fritz Leiber wrote it, it's another one that has to be better than it looks. Met Fritz briefly at a Locus party years ago, not too long before his death. He was one of those authors you enjoyed meeting. (Not true of all of them, alas.)

Wow, that's neat, to have met him. I remember FJA always talking him up in Famous Monsters. I think he appeared as an actor in a couple of films, maybe more?

Looking into this novel, I see it has an interesting past. It was a 40,000 word piece that was put on the shelf for a few years (intended for the short-lived Unknown). Eventually it was published in this pulp, and later sold to an entity that had the legal right to pad it. They added all kinds of racy material to it (and published it under a different title). I am guessing the novel, as it appears in this pulp, is probably as pure as you'll find it.

Had you seen there's a move to name an intersection in L.A. after 4E?

Ah, thanks for this, slgwv! A great write-up. It would be nice if they could do it before Nov 24, wouldn't it?

:))) Thank you, Nylonbleu! I agree. It's hard to imagine working that into an the actual story. It's one of the wildest pulp covers I know of.
