Hard to see, but that dark passage at the end is the entrance to the underground portion of the tunnel between the pedestal and the blockhouse, right where the tunnel turns a 45deg corner at the edge of the pad. It was filled with water, and I could hear something rustling ominously in the bushes, so I didn't explore further.
The concrete for the apron under the service structure's parking location was poured July 25, 1960 -- forty-nine years and eleven days before this picture was taken.
