New Orleans – Sicht auf das WTC vom Mississippi River.

Das Gebäude wurde vom Architekten Edward Durell Stone entworfen und 1967 fertiggestellt.
Es verfügt über 33 Stockwerke, 12 Aufzüge und hat eine Gesamthöhe von 144 m.
In der obersten Etage befand sich von den 1970er bis 2001 eine Cocktail Lounge namens "Top of the Mart". Die Bar drehte sich langsam einmal pro Stunde. Danach wurde an seiner Stelle eine Bar namens "360" (Grad) eröffnet, die bis zum Hurrikan Katrina im Jahr 2005 bestehen blieb.
Das World Trade Center wurde im Juni 2011 geschlossen und das Gebäude von der Stadt New Orleans gekauft.
Als ich 2014 das zweite Mal hier war, war das Gebäude immer noch geschlossen.
Im Jahr 2018 begannen die Arbeiten zur Umwandlung der Struktur in ein Four Seasons Hotel mit 341 Hotelzimmern und 92 Eigentumswohnungen mit Hotelservice in den obersten Etagen des Gebäudes. Der Umbau wird voraussichtlich 450 Mio. US$ kosten und sollte Ende 2020 abgeschlossen sein.
Im Januar 2021 wurde das Penthouse für knapp 13 Mio. US$ verkauft.

Es gibt bei diesen Flächen und Höhen natürlich erhebliche Winddrucke auf die Fassade, das benötigt Gläser, die das aushalten können.
