Knossos- Part of Palace Entrance #2

Knossos- Part of Palace Entrance #2
Knossos was the centre of the Bronze Age Minoan civilization.
Excavation of the site began in 1900 under the direction of British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans, bringing to light these extensive remains for the first time in 3500 years. Behind these columns can be seen a fresco of a bull. Bull-leaping was a popular sport for the Minoans.
Scanned slide from 1999.
