Lovely shot. Strange how short a working life they had! Maybe by the early 1960s, everything had to brand new all the time!

In the days of the National Bus Company ( pre-1986), many of these ex-NBC buses/coaches would have a bit more life with smaller operators. It kept the major manufacturers in business supplying chassis, bodies, engines such as Bristiol. ( the 6B here shows they had 6 cylinder Bristol engines as well as Bristol chassis), Leyland, Guy, AEC for London's buses, and also the body builders for all these chassis. The first buses I drove were Bristols and Leylands before they found their way to the scrapyard to be replaced with Euro makes as these British makers fell by the wayside, as did their lorry side of these companies.

Thank you, Paul for your insider's information. A subject that had hitherto been a complete mystery to me! I'm a a bit better informed now!
Have a good week!.

You're welcome Andy. The 6G classification of the previous Royal Blue coach shows a 6 cylinder Gardner engine fitted. Have a nice week too!
