If it's made 30 years it will make another 30 - at least in dry climate. With our winters and the salt old cars have problems.

Yes, I have at least two nice zooms in Minolta mount and one that is terrible (a 28-80mm) I only used it once.

The Minolta MD Zoom 35-70mm has a good reputation, AFAIK. I got it with a camera, I think and I was quite pleased. But generally I use prime lenses more often.

I will be at a city circuit V8 car race next weekend and I have a donated X-570 with a nice f1:1.7 and a zoom 80-200. Do you know anything about this long lens? I haven't ever used the camera but I checked it out and it goes OK. It's the lens I am suspicious about. If it is as good as your 35-70 I will be happy.
