There's a town called "Street"? I love such town names. Not too far from where we live, there are places like Wald (=forest), Berg (=hill) or even Loch (=hole)...

There really is, I'm so used to it I don't find it strange to have a town called Street.

There are quite a lot of other weird and/or rude names; Piddletrenthide, Crapstone, Loosebottom in England; Scotland has Lost, Dull and Brokenwind; N.Ireland has Strangalwilly to name but a few.The most famous comes from Wales - Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Please don't swallow your tongue trying to pronounce the last one ... ;-))

LOL, I really like your title, Maggs. And the photo, too. I guess I'll choose street, I can't go wrong there and will eventually arrive in one of those places ;-)

I like the fact that you can be Five and three-quarter miles from Glastonbury, but you could probably see the Tor Ten Miles back, A terrific capture,Maggs I have some of these signs from the Quantock's which have stranger names. Must post at some point.

On that particular road Roger you don't see the Tor until after Compton Dundon and the rather oddly named Cockrod junction and are going downhill into Street.

I usually don't go via Somerton, I go via High Ham and cross the levels on the very unlevel Nythe Rd to Pedwell and turn right!!

Shapwick to West hay must be the best roller coaster road in the county
