High on a hill, a lonely mill.
Now owned by the National Trust Stembridge Tower Mill unfortunately remains closed since lockdown. Built in the village of High Ham in 1822 it is the last remaining thatched windmill in England.
"There were many windmills across the Somerset Levels, but as factories began to mass produce bread the need for such mills and their on-site bakeries declined. This mill was still grinding local cereals until 1910. All three floors can be viewed via narrow staircases. The top of the mill, which could swivel to maximise windpower, and the thatching remains." (visit Wells)

Very well composed. I like that huge hay bale too.........it sort of fits with the windmill. Well worth viewing large for the best detail.
Thank you for the note.

We were only talking about visiting the mill recently.
A shame it has remained closed! Will keep an eye on that.
HFF and a good weekend.
What a better image of peace in the countryside...
Lovely.
