Thank you! It is the door to a chamber for testing aircraft, ships and clothing at extremes of temperature and air pressure. More details here. www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/explore/the-stratosphere-chamber It was designed by Sir Barnes Wallis, the man who designed the bombs used in the "dambuster" raids - a fascinating piece of history. My grandfather used to work at the factory as chief maintenance electrician so he would have worked on this when it was new ;0)
