Unknown (Artist)

Date: 5th century BC

Culture: Etruscan

Collection: Ancient Art

Dimensions: Overall: 8 1/4 × 5 7/8 in. (20.96 × 14.92 cm)

One side of this mirror was polished to create a highly reflective surface while the other was incised with a winged female figure. Though the figure is clothed, the engraver has also shown the outline of her body, including an ornament encircling her thigh. This mirror originally was inserted into a handle made separately, perhaps of wood or bone.
