The Maze at Hampton Court Palace, March 2004

The Maze at Hampton Court Palace, March 2004
The Maze

The Maze, [at Hampton Court Palace] planted in 1702, is the only remaining part of William III's Wilderness. Its winding paths amount to nearly half a mile (0.8km) and cover an area of a third of an acre (about 1,350 square metres). One of Jerome K Jerome's Three Men in a Boat declared the Maze 'very simple...it's absurd to call it a maze', only to become completely lost. Inside he met other visitors 'who had given up all hope of ever seeing their home and friends again'!
