Label:

In about 1874, Frémiet created a model for a life-size statue of Joan of Arc, the medieval hero who fought to liberate France, of which six large-scale casts were eventually commissioned, including ones for Paris and Nancy, France, and Philadelphia. The Philadelphia sculpture currently stands across from the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 25th Street and Kelly Drive. The work seen here is a later reduction of the statue.
