Description:

In this symbolic scene, the young Christ presents the Order of her Rule in the form of a scroll to Saint Bridget of Sweden (c. 1303 - 1373, canonized 1391), whose attribute is the sphinx. The mystic vision is described in her Revelationes.

The relief has been identified as having been commissioned in 1459 for the predella of the altar of San Lorenzo in San Domenico, Perugia, which was dismantled by 1482.
