Boizot is remembered for his decorative sculptures made for members of Louis XVI's court as well as for his realistic portrait busts. In 1779, he presented a bust of the great French dramatist Racine (1639-1699) that was similar to this example to the Comédie-Française in exchange for a lifetime pass to the theater.
