Inventory # 85.AC.78

Sets of elaborate luxury vessels made of silver and bronze adorned the serving tables of wealthy Romans. The motifs and images on this pitcher relate to Bacchus. The decoration includes an inlaid silver grapevine encircling the neck of the vessel and a frontal mask of the woodland god Pan covering the join of the lower handle.
