A distinctive plant with a diminutive habit, smaller flowers and reduced leaves with narrower segments when compared to what is known as "Alyogyne huegelii" in SA.
I consider that this is part of the same taxon as Alyogyne pinoniana var. microandra, but is best treated as distinct at species level both from A. pinoniana and from what in SA is currently called "A. huegelii".
On eastern Eyre Peninsula, 26 Oct 2011.
Note the size of the shrub in relation to the Austrostipa tussocks and inflorescences.

This plant matches Alyogyne pinoniana (Gaudich.) Fryxell var. microandra Fryxell but has larger flowers than in the Holotype. Note the size of the shrub in relation to the Austrostipa tussocks.
