Callitris drummondii going feral in Belair NP

Callitris drummondii going feral in Belair NP
Callitris drummondii (Drummond's Cypress) is a Western Australian endemic species which is starting to become naturalized and spread into bushland in Belair National Park. This patch has over 100 seedlings, mostly 1-1.5m tall and many with abundant fruit (small globular light grey cones) despite their young age. It is situated just outside the old "Australian native plant" enclosure in Belair NP where an original planting of this species would have been made (along with various other WA species, many of which are also naturally establishing progeny). The netting fence erected around the plantings to exclude rabbits many years ago can be seen in the middle distance on the LHS (may need to enlarge the image). A nearby stand of mature Callitris drummondii contained within the enclosure, appears to have been be naturally established by seed also, at an earlier time, along with an isolated seed-established tree c. 3.8 m tall on the edge of Lodge track c. 15 m W of the enclosure (see prevous image). This photo taken 27 Jun 2015.
