Tide dropping at Welbourne Bay

Tide dropping at Welbourne Bay
To be honest I am not sure that this was exactly at Welbourne Bay. To be sure it is near Welbourne Bay. In turn, it is in Lake Melville between Goose Bay and Northwest River. I was there in May 2003 doing some interviewing and archival work, and I took advantage of my free time to look around.

Lake Melville, in case you don't know, is a big lake-like (but still tidal) inlet of the Labrador Sea. The area has been militarised and de-militarised, and industrialised and de- and re-industrialised, over and over for three generations. It retains a sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and still bucolic personality as a result. It is a favourite place for me.

Reala in Nikon FM.

Ulrich Dinges, Annalia S., Lebojo have particularly liked this photo
