Scabiosa just starting out

Scabiosa just starting out
I read somewhere recently that, when it comes to insects, Newfoundland is the most Europeanised part of Canada, perhaps North America. I wouldn't be surprised if our flora isn't far off either. This was in a patch of feral, or escapee, Scabiosa that we saw this afternoon when my wife and I were out for a walk. It was alongside the old railway track, now a walking trail, in St. John's. At this stage, the Scabiosa bloom is about 2 cm across.

I don't know which species of Scabiosa it is.
