First Ikebana Arrangement of the New Year – National Arboretum, Washington D.C.
People in Japan mark the beginning of a new year by paying special attention to the first time certain activities take place. From dreaming to bathing, writing haiku to hearing birdsong – these seemingly mundane actions set the tone for the coming year. In my case, this is my first photo of an Ikebana arrangement taken in the Year of the Rabbit.
