may be because
from 1897 to 1914 Qingdao was under German domination. ( Tsingtau) There are many constructions, such as a brewery, a train station, a Catholic and a Protestant church has a german touch. Following found in "Wikipedia": The German Imperial government planned and built the first streets and institutions of the city we see today, including the world-famous Tsingtao Brewery. German influence extended to other areas of Shandong Province, including the establishment of rival breweries.

Wunderschöne Hausreihe mit dem alten Brunnen davor. In Miltenberg war ich vor vielen Jahren einmal. Die kleine Stadt hatte mich damals sehr begeistert.
