Neottia smallii (Appalachian Twayblade orchid) on a bed of Lycopodium clavatum (Wolf's-paw Clubmoss)
Another magical day along the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina filled with colorful wildflowers. My target species on this trip was Lilium superbum or Turk's-cap Lily, but I managed to discover much more along the way.
